All throughout history, psychic abilities have been recorded. Some people believe they have several gifts while others only recognize having one psychic power. There are many types, and we are listing here the more well-known psychic abilities.
Astral Projection is a voluntary ability to project the conscious awareness outside of the physical body. It is achieved by practice of deep meditation. It is different from out-of-body experience (OBE) such as in a near-death experience. The astral body or the soul, that is not bound by physical laws, can move through walls and other solid matter and travel anywhere in the physical or astral world.
Aura Reading is the ability to see colorful vibrations and provide insight into the emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual nature of the person being read. There’s an auric field seen radiating some inches outside of the physical body that the reader can see and interpret.
Channeling is the use of a medium for communication with a disembodied spirit. Some mediums allow the spirit to take control of their bodies while other mediums don’t. There are varied reasons for the communication, such as spirit giving information, creating paranormal activity, and allowing examination and validation with the physical world.
Clairs or referred to as the sixth sense is receiving and knowing information in unique ways. The most popular is clairvoyance, seeing the past, present and/or future visions of events, people (including spirits), and places beyond physical eyesight. Others are clairaudience, hearing beyond what is the normal hearing perception; claircognizance is clear knowing or clear recognition without having any previous knowledge; clairsentience, the ability to feel or sense something including presences beyond the physical realm; clairgustance and clairolfaction are receiving psychic information through the sense of taste or smell respectively.
Divination is a practice used to find answers to questions by observation of natural signs; some are given by the spirit world. There are many forms: dowsing, tarot cards, tea leaves, crystal balls, pendulums, Ouija boards, bibliomancy, scrying, and many other tools used around the world.
Empathic abilities pertain to involuntary feeling another person’s emotions as well as their physical pains.
ESP abilities (Extrasensory Perception) is one of the best known paranormal powers often also called the sixth sense. It’s an independent sensory perception, to perceive things that others might not. It is grouped with other psychic abilities, such as telepathy and clairvoyance.
Intuition is a borderline psychic perception, said to be possessed by everyone as a sixth sense. It is an innate “sense” of events, thoughts, activities, or feelings of others that are outside of the normal human ability to perceive them. It’s an awareness of all kinds of things that aren’t based on observation or logic.
Levitation is the act of lifting or rising into the air without any support. It is considered a rare, supernatural event written as experienced by some Vatican-declared saints. The negative side of levitation are reports of demonic possession.
Psychic surgery is highly controversial with many hoaxers. However, a genuine psychic surgeon is said to have the ability to create an energetic healing.
Precognition is the ability to see future events or have prior knowledge of an event, done through the use of other psychic abilities, such as ESP or clairvoyance.
Psychometry as utilizing one or more other abilities, such as clairsentience, clairaudience, or clairvoyance.
Pyrokinesis is the ability to create fire with the mind and then be able to control it. Though alleged, some claimed to have the ability to manipulate and extinguish fires with their minds alone, none have claimed to start fires with their minds.
Psychokinesis is also called PK or telekinesis. A psychic with PK abilities can control physical matter with the mind. Macro psychokinesis ability can move objects and control elements, such as smoke and fire. Micro psychokinesis bestows the ability to influence events that have random results, such as games of chance.
Telepathy uses physical senses to create a direct communication between individuals through thoughts, emotions, and imagery. There are three forms: Instinctual is telepathy sub-consciously controlled, often based on emotional bonds such as the type of communication a mother and child have, often vague and subtle impressions only. Intuitional telepathy is strictly mind-to-mind with direct communications void of any possible misunderstandings or misinterpretations. Intellectual telepathy is about entire concepts being communicated in the blink of an eye with complete understanding.
